My daughter just went to a Matchbook 20 concert. On the way out, she was able to buy a copy of a live recording of the concert she just saw on a USB Flash Drive. The band is direct-marketing itself to
its fanbase.
30 bucks a pop and they were selling like crazy.
While there remain lots of copyright issues out there on the Net, I expect bands to more and more both establish themselves
and market themselves using the Net.
The old Capitol Records building in Hollywood was designed to look like a stack of records. (Although I always thought it looked like a stack of
pancakes.)
Not that there will be any new record studio buildings built again, but if one was, it would have to look like a hard drive.
