
John Ohara is SVP of Strategy for Giant Spoon, a marketing strategy and innovation agency based in LA and NY. John brings a strong foundation of strategic planning, digital thought leadership, and a higher level of creativity and innovation. Prior to his role at Giant Spoon, John was focused on developing creative media solutions for Coca-Cola, Microsoft and Converse at Starcom MediaVest Group. John continues to find inspiration working with a cross-section of thinkers, influencers and startups, staying heavily connected through deep seeded relationships in music, technology, TV, film and media. John’s work has resulted in a number of industry accolades and recognition, including a Cannes Silver Media Lion, a Festival of Creativity Award and acceptance into the Berlin School of Advertising for the coveted Creative Leaders Program. He is a recognized thought-leader in his field and continues to elevate thinking and discovery within emerging areas of media, marketing and technology. John is also a 2016 Fordham MBA candidate.

Welcome to the Age of Experience, where in a marketing and advertising economy, your critical advantage comes down to talent. There is a changing standard for companies (creative/media/brand/etc.) to cultivate talent by building additional layers of experience-based knowledge on top of current areas of expertise. There's generally no classification on a candidate's resume for this additional merit but it's becoming more apparent in the world of marketing and communications how vital a candidate's extra-curricular experience and involvement in culture is.
