Rafael Urbina-Quintero is the Chairman & CEO of VIX, a digital brand creating content that sparks curiosity through a positive lens reaching hundreds of millions of people and 1.5 billion content views per month. A 20+ year career in media began at Multicanal-TPS where Rafael led the launch of multiple pay-TV channels in Spain and Portugal. In 1999, Rafael started in digital media launching Planeta Networks, a pioneer in digital video which eventually merged with Batanga to form Batanga Media, which went on to become the largest independent digital media and content company for the U.S. Hispanic market, Latin America, and Brazil. As Chairman and CEO, Rafael successfully led a series of acquisitions and negotiated multiple rounds of funding for Batanga Media, most recently closing an investment and strategic partnership deal with Discovery Communications. In early 2017, Rafael led strategic corporate rebrand of Batanga Media to Vix. Rafael is a University of Miami School of Business MBA graduate and got a Bachelor of Law degree in Caracas, Venezuela where he is originally from.
