With a degree in aerospace engineering,
Harleen started her career at NASA where she
worked on the Pluto-bound spacecraft New
Horizons.
She went on to join a startup in Berlin, working
on earth-observation satellites well before Elon
Musk thought it was cool. The technology had a
wide range of uses including helping insurance
companies spot fraud, cities locate leaking
pipes, and farmers to grow better grains.
Inspired by the rapid growth and innovation of
the startup world, Harleen enrolled at INSEAD,
one of the top global MBA programs. She was
later recruited to Rolls-Royce where she became
the youngest and first female vice president in
their jet engine division. After working in an area as complex as the
the universe itself, Harleen found it unimaginable
that we don’t have an easy way to assess the
facts about what’s happening on our planet.
She looked at the media landscape, plagued by
sensationalism, outrage, and manipulative
algorithms, and knew there was a better way.
In 2017, Harleen co-founded Ground News to
empower readers with objective data so they
can compare news coverage and have a
well-rounded worldview.
