Consumers Tend To Be Less Concerned About Higher Digital Prices

Many U.S. consumers have lost significant spending power in the past few years as the cost of everything from basic staples to energy to dining out has risen. Inflation remained a top issue for 84% of consumers in the second quarter of the year, up 5 percentage points from the last three months of 2023, according to TransUnion’s latest Consumer Pulse Survey.

“Despite this, price increases for streaming services are not a major concern for most,” TransUnion said in its report. “When it comes to consumer concerns about rising costs in essential categories like groceries (84%) and gasoline (66%), a relatively lower concern for streaming media subscriptions (25%) suggests that subscription service costs are not at the forefront of consumers’ inflation concerns.”
