Anime's Popularity Soars Among U.S. Audiences, Driving Routine Viewership

Anime’s popularity is growing beyond niche audiences for Japanese-style animation and into the mainstream, according to a study by advertising agency Dentsu. Brands face little risk in embracing the format, with 60% of the general population said they feel neutral about brands doing anime-inspired campaigns. 

However, among anime fans, favorability rises to 85%, giving brands a chance to “experiment with anime-themed activations without worrying about alienating broader audiences, while also gaining traction within passionate fandoms,” according to Dentsu.
