Despite remaining a key communication tool, email is facing growing scrutiny from consumers wary of spam and scams, according to a new report a released by ZeroBounce. The 2025 Email Marketing Statistics Report reveals that while 93% of people check their email daily, a staggering 80% say they mark messages as spam based solely on how they look.
The findings pose a growing challenge for brands and marketers, who risk losing access to customers' inboxes even with legitimate and well-meaning messages. Nearly half (47%) of consumers report an email as spam if they never gave explicit permission to receive it, highlighting the importance of consent-based outreach.
