Despite the hype surrounding AI chatbots, new research suggests that fears of them replacing search engines may be overblown, for now.

A new 24-month traffic analysis by digital marketing agency OneLittleWeb shows that while AI chatbot usage is booming, traditional search engines continue to dominate by a wide margin.

According to the report, the top 10 AI chatbots collectively saw 55.2 billion visits over the past year, marking an 80.9% year-over-year increase. But when compared to search engines, the difference is stark: the top 10 search platforms generated 1.86 trillion visits, making chatbot traffic just 2.96% of search engine volumes.
