Americans Spend Over 12 Hours A Day On Screens, Raising Mental Health Concerns

The average American is spending more than half their day glued to a screen, with smartphones, streaming, and work driving unprecedented digital consumption, according to a new report from Reviews.org.

The Screen Time and Internet Usage Statistics 2025 report reveals that Americans now rack up an average of 12.5 hours of screen time daily across devices such as phones, computers, and TVs. The findings underscore growing concerns about the mental and physical toll of constant digital exposure.

“This never-ending exposure to screens is not what our brains were built for,” warned Dr. Kevin Gilliland, a clinical psychologist interviewed for the report, citing increased risks of burnout, sleep disruption, and attention problems.
