Snapchat Users Send Billions More Voice Notes, Bolstering App's Role For Gen Z

}
Snapchat users sent more than 2.5 billion voice notes during the first quarter of 2025, a sharp increase of more than 650 million compared to the same period last year. The growth is another sign that the platform has cemented its role as a space for spontaneous, informal conversation, according to a report from parent company Snap.

The surge in voice messages reflects broader trends on Snapchat, where users favor quick, unpolished exchanges over curated or heavily produced content. In total, Snapchatters now spend more than 1.7 billion minutes a day talking on the app, according to the company -- a year-over-year increase of 30%.
