new report from Samba TV warns that on-screen diversity is slipping just as America becomes more demographically diverse, and the consequences are being felt across the entertainment and advertising industries.

According to Samba’s 2025 State of Diversity on TV report, non-White representation among top TV show casts fell to 42%, a 5% year-over-year decline. The drop reverses progress made in prior years and reduces the number of authentic entry points for advertisers seeking to engage increasingly diverse U.S. audiences.
