American consumer sentiment showed a modest uptick in July, but deep divides remain between those feeling insulated from financial stress and those increasingly struggling to make ends meet, according to new research from advertising agency Dentsu.
The survey, conducted July 14 among 800 U.S. adults, found consumer sentiment climbed five points from April, echoing the University of Michigan’s recent report marking the first confidence gain in six months. Yet 61% of Americans still believe the economy is struggling, underscoring how short-term relief has not erased widespread unease.
