Advertising and marketing professionals are among the most active workplace users of ChatGPT, according to a new study from the National Bureau of Economic Research, which analyzed more than a million anonymized conversations to understand how people around the world use the AI chatbot.
The paper, “How People Use ChatGPT,” finds that users in management and business occupations -- a category that includes marketing, communications and advertising roles -- rely heavily on ChatGPT for writing, editing and creative reasoning tasks. In fact, 52% of all work-related messages from professionals in those fields involved writing activities, by far the highest share across any occupation group.
