A growing share of Americans are tightening their budgets by dropping streaming subscriptions and delaying car or home repairs as uncertainty around the economy, tariffs and a federal government shutdown weighs on household confidence, according to the latest Ipsos Consumer Tracker.

The survey found that 39% of U.S. consumers have canceled at least one streaming service in the past six months, up from 31% in 2023, while a similar share said they’ve postponed car or home repairs, a sharp increase from 27% two years ago.
