Americans are still dreaming of a fresh start, a cheaper mortgage and maybe a city with decent brunch, but actually moving has become harder than getting adtech vendors to define incrementality.

A new Bank of America Institute report found overall moving activity has slowed in the past three years, with millennials and Gen X seeing the sharpest pullbacks. Gen Z, however, remains the stubborn exception, continuing to relocate at higher levels than in 2023 despite a modest recent slowdown.
