The 2026 World Happiness Report has arrived, and once again Finland sits atop the global happiness rankings like a serene Nordic wizard calmly sipping oat milk coffee while the rest of the planet doomscrolls itself into psychic shrapnel.
Meanwhile, the United States ranked 23rd overall, trailing Costa Rica, Mexico and a collection of countries where people apparently still speak to one another in person.
But this year’s report is less about national bragging rights and more about a grim question hanging over advertisers, platforms and every executive who has ever said the phrase “digital engagement strategy” while staring at a KPI dashboard like it was the Dead Sea Scrolls.
