Caitlin Clark, the University of Iowa basketball star who is one of the greatest college athletes of all time, helped to generate record television audiences for the NCAA women’s March Madness tournament. As a draftee to the WNBA’s Indiana Fever, Clark is credited with changing the economics of women’s sports.
About two-thirds of U.S. adults who watched more women’s college basketball during the past season said they did so to watch Clark play (notably in Iowa’s game against Louisiana State University that pitted the two finalists from the 2023 season against each other in this year’s Elite Eight stage of the tournament), according to a survey by researcher CivicScience.
