About half of the world’s population will participate in an election this year, making 2024 a key period for people to seek potential change in government policies. About a third of Generation Z consumers (32%) and millennials (31%) worldwide said they believe the economic situations in their countries will improve in the next year, according to a global survey by consulting firm Deloitte.

Those percentages are an improvement from 2020, when Deloitte fielded its survey before the onset of the Covid-19 outbreak.

Despite this optimism, a signification portion of Gen Z (30%) and millennial (32%) consumers said they don’t feel financially secure. In addition, 56% of Gen Zs and 55% of millennials said they live paycheck-to-paycheck. The cost of living is their top concern by a wide margin compared with other concerns such as climate change, unemployment, mental health and crime.
