For Coolatta, Dunkin' Urges Fans To 'Play DJ'

  • June 15, 2010
To promote a new Blue Raspberry variety and its other Coolatta slush drinks during the summer season, Dunkin' Donuts is encouraging its Facebook fans to "play DJ."

The "Keep It Coolatta 2: Flavor Boogaloo" promotion asks fans to suggest their favorite summer, "Coolatta-inspired" music selections on its Facebook page. The QSR will choose from among the suggestions to create sponsored, custom playlists on Pandora, the Net-based radio service that delivers personalized stations based on listeners' music preferences. The custom playlists will be available in July.

In addition to the new flavor, Dunkin' has reintroduced watermelon to its lineup of Coolatta varieties for the summer. Other flavors include coffee, strawberry, vanilla bean and Tropicana orange. Suggested retail is $2.29 for a 16-ounce size.

Separately, within its iced coffee line, the chain has reintroduced Iced Dunkin' Dark Roast. Dunkin' is the largest U.S. retailer of iced coffee, selling more than 250 million cups per year, according to the company.
