Traffic Directors Update Affidavits

  • March 10, 2003
In a vote by its membership, the Traffic Directors Guild of America has adopted a position calling for an end to the practice of notarizing invoices for all billing, except co-op advertising documents. Instead, they recommend the creation of a billing statement to replace the affidavit current send to ad buyers. TDGA CEO Larry Keene says the update “reflects today’s marketplace realities,” and puts into effect recommendations that were made 13 years ago. In essence, the Notary Public stamp or seal portion of a verification statement has been eliminated. "The reality is the station official signing these statements is seldom, if ever, literally sworn-in and has a Notary physically witness each and every signature of each and every invoice,” says Keene. TDGA believes invoices issued by radio or TV stations are complete by themselves and should require no additional warranties, verifications or affidavits.
