Production Begins on Several ABC Shows

ABC said production had begun on several of its new and returning fall series. Production has begun in Queens, N.Y., on the sitcom "Hope & Faith," starring Faith Ford, Kelly Ripa and Ted McGinley. It's produced by Touchstone Television. Work has begun on the new hour-long drama, "Karen Sisco." It stars Carla Gugino in the title role, a smart, tenacious U.S. marshal on the Gold Coast of Miami. She pursues dangerous fugitives from the law. It's adapted from a feature film, "Out of Sight," which starred Jennifer Lopez and George Clooney. In the episode currently being filmed, "Blown Away," Karen learns that the good-natured charter fisherman she's dating (guest star Patrick Dempsey" may actually be a bank robber, at least according to the FBI agents on his trail. Filming will take place at Universal Studios and on location in Miami. In Burbank, Calif., production has begun on the second season of "8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teen-age Daughter" on Tuesdays beginning Sept. 23 and the third season of "According to Jim," the network also said.
