Discovery Nets' Reaps Double-Digit Ad Gain, Liberty Spins Off International

Discovery Networks' net advertising sales rose 19 percent during the fourth quarter and 21 percent for full year 2003, according to estimates released Monday by controlling stakeholder Liberty Media Corp. Separately, Liberty announced plans to spin off its international operations in a tax-free transaction to its shareholders. The new company, which will be called Liberty Media International, will be comprised of interests in various broadband and content businesses operating principally in Europe, Japan and Latin America.
