Former Gartner Executive To Lead IP Efforts At Razorfish

Richard Fouts, a 27-year marketing veteran, is jumping from Gartner to Razorfish Global to oversee thought leadership and intellectual property initiatives for the agency in a newly created role of director of content and thought leadership.

As an expert on "emerging technology trends and their impact on business transformation," Fouts will lead the development of proprietary research and analysis designed to help business leaders and Razorfish clients overcome the challenges of digital disruption.

He will also work across Publicis.Sapient to develop IP that will be leveraged across the platform’s other members, including SapientNitro, DigitasLBi and Sapient Consulting.

Fouts’ hiring is notable because it follows the recent arrival of chief intelligence officer Samih Fadli at Razorfish Global and the launch of the Nexus Customer Intelligence platform that applies machine learning and algorithmic data insights to deliver more personalized consumer interactions.

The agency is placing a big bet on data and intelligent platforms and sees Fouts as someone who can bring clarity to the market through thought leadership, say Razorfish executives.

“Richard is one of the industry’s most respected voices on digital business transformation and is adept at helping marketers and business leaders understand how to evaluate and deploy emerging capabilities and technologies,” says Shade Vaughn, Razorfish Global’s senior vice president of marketing.

At Gartner, Fouts was vice president and led research in real-time marketing, loyalty, advocacy, communications and demand management, as well as UX design, predictive analytics and business transformation.

Prior to joining Gartner in 2009, Fouts was president and fFounder of communications consultancy Communicado. Earlier, he led disciplines at both ZEFER and Cambridge Technology Partners.
