Current Looks To Future In Texas, Offers Broadband Alternative

In its first major deal, Current Communications Group, the broadband over power line (BPL) developer backed by Google, Hearst and Liberty Media Corp., Monday announced plans to develop and operate a BPL network available to two million Texas homes and businesses. The Dallas-based TXU Electric Delivery will offer new competition to cable, telephone and satellite-based broadband providers in the Dallas-Fort Worth and other markets. -- Joe Mandese
