Bonchon's VP of Marketing's Well Deserved Just Desserts

Behind the Scenes with Christina Coy talks

Bonchon's Christina Coy talks about the challenges of managing up, not being afraid to ask for what she wants and the psychology of marketing.

I've had the opportunity to connect with and learn from executives of major brands at MediaPost's Insider Summits. In the process I've discovered some truly impressive women -- not only for the work they do, but their stories behind the scenes. With Brand Insider: BTS, I get to pull back the curtain on some of the most influential women marketers as they talk about their path to success: the twists and turns, obstacles, inspirations and the valuable lessons learned along the way.

“Don't you ever thank somebody else for the work that you did. You earned this, you got here on your own. I just gave you what you deserve.” That advice from a former female supervisor stopped Christina Coy in her tracks because at the time it never even occurred to her that she had earned her success. Now looking back, Bonchon's VP of Marketing realizes she was essentially discrediting her own work, something she tries to educate her current team members not to do. In this episode of Brand Insider: BTS, Christina opens up about the challenges of working in a male-driven industry. She also believes we shouldn’t be afraid to speak up, supporting the Asian community is the right thing to do and that the Mac & Cheese thing is legit! You can watch the entire conversation here:
