Conservatives Perceived As Having Most Negative Media Representation

Americans feel political Liberals are both over-exposed and represented in a positive light in the media, whereas Conservatives are typically excluded and/or depicted in a negative light.

That was an interesting sidebar analysis presented by Ipsos' public affairs team during their monthly political tracking briefing on Thursday.

The analysis found other cohorts and found "wealthy people" are most over-exposed, while heterosexuals are depicted in the most positive light.

Conversely, people with disabilities are most excluded from representation in the media, while Conservatives are most negatively represented, followed by immigrants, religious Christians, and trans or non-binary people.

"What we found, is there is a lot of nuance here," explains Ipsos data journalist Sarah Feldman, noting: "This really reinforces how Americans view who is in power and who is not, and how that maps to the different parts of reality people are living in."
