Sure, that was a great year, but in this case, the number represents the days since I said I wouldn't publish "Donald J. Trump's" name under my byline.

When I published "So Long, Donald J. Trump" Sept, 5, 2018, I didn't anticipate he'd be running for president after being twice-impeached, defeated in a 2020 reelection bid, and indicted on criminal charges related to that and many other things.

I still believe he is a stochastic terrorist, a toxic un-American narcissist hellbent on overturning democracy, an insurrectionist, and many other bad things qualifying him to be treated the same way I treat the names of mass murderers seeking name recognition. It's just that I'm suspending my self-imposed rule for the next 275 days so I can do a fair job of covering the election.

I promise I'll deprecate "Donald J. Trump" once again when it's over.
