Robert Alter, a long-time media industry executive who founded the Cabletelevision Advertising Bureau in 1980, died March 9. He was 77. Alter, who served as president-CEO of the CAB through 1991, was
instrumental in establishing cable TV as a viable advertising alternative to broadcast.
