Report Projects 1 Billion PCs By 2009, 2 Billion By 2015

By the end of 2008, there will be more than one billion personal computers in use worldwide, according to a new report from Forrester Research. The report shows the fastest rate of growth occurring in developing nations and emerging markets, indicating that marketers can expand their reach of computer-based media. By 2015, Forrester estimates there will be more than two billion PCs worldwide, with the emerging markets of Brazil, Russia, India and China (BRIC) accounting for more than 775 million new PCs.
