Sears, Kmart Offer 10% Bonus For Stimulus Shoppers

Hoping to attract its fair share of the economic-stimulus checks soon to be mailed out to 130 million U.S. households, Sears is offering a 10% bonus to every shopper who converts the rebate into a gift card.
The cards can be used at Sears, Kmart, Lands' End retail outlets or online at sears.com or landsend.com.
Customers are required to bring their checks, ranging from $300 to $1,200 for many people, into Sears, and to buy gift cards for the entire amount.
The promotion is scheduled to last from May 14 to July 19, which covers the Internal Revenue Service's mailing schedule for the checks. Ads for the program are set to break May 1, in stores, circulars, online, targeted emails and direct mail pieces.--Sarah Mahoney
