Lifetime Taps New Entertainment Chief

Lifetime has tapped the executive producer of NBC's "30 Rock" as its entertainment chief. JoAnn Alfano becomes executive vice president of entertainment, replacing Susanne Daniels, who left the post. After a drought, Daniels helped bring a hit to Lifetime in drama "Army Wives."

Before "30 Rock," Alfano had headed both drama and comedy development at NBC several years ago, helping to bring about series such as "Will & Grace," "Scrubs" and "Fresh Prince of Bel Air."

While producing the NBC comedy "30 Rock" with Tina Fey, she also was president of TV Tray Entertainment, a production company she ran that had a first-look deal at NBC Universal.

At Lifetime, she will be based in Los Angeles and head programming for the flagship network, as well as Lifetime's Move Network and Real Women.

Andrea Wong, Lifetime CEO, said Alfano "has the ideal combination of creative instincts and leadership skills."

"I hear about programming jobs all the time and not many turn my head, but this was different ... it may sound corny, but it really is the opportunity of a lifetime," Alfano said.
