Internet ad expenditures bounced back in September, increasing 13.2% to $1.6 billion after having dropped in August for the first time this year. The information was released today by AdZone
Interactive, an advertising research firm that tracks advertising on 1,300 U.S. websites which make up more than 95% of all U.S. Internet advertising revenue. Sears.com jumped eight spots to the
number one brand position, up 56.1% to $27.8 million. The website was one of the few in the top 10 to increase spending from August. Despite the overall increase among all web spenders, this month's
top 10 brands decreased their ad spending 8.6% collectively. AOL.com shop and zdnet.com computershopper rounded out the top three spots, at $26.5 and $26.2 million respectively. AOL.com was once again
the top web site with estimated revenues of $80.6 million. "After last months correction it seems advertising on the web is back to continuing its steady rise," said John Cardona, president of AdZone
Interactive. "August saw the only dip this year, and overall the value of advertising on the web is up approximately 95% since January."
