Teens Ignore Purpose of R Rated Movie Ads

When teenmag.com, the website of Teen Magazine, asked 3963 teenagers how ads and in-theatre previews for R Rated Movies affected them, the vast majority said they "are a total waste of time. I ignore the ratings and see what I want (52.49%). For nearly a quarter of teens (24.15%) the ads serve to entice them, saying "they make me want to see the movie." Only 4.89% said that previews "help me understand that it's not a film for someone my age," while 18.47% found the previews "confusing because I don't see why I am not supposed to see (the advertised movie.)
