Domain Fetches $1.4 Million

Brands have nothing on generic names when it comes to owning a hot Internet address. fetched $1.4 million at a recent auction held by Los Angeles-based domain name registration company Moniker. The winning bidder? Divyank Turakhia of and CEO of Skenzo, a domain parking company.

The most paid for any other domain at the auction held last Wednesday at the Traffic conference in Santa Clara, California was, which went for a mere $45,000. was had for $40,000;, for $32,000; and, $25,000.

In all, Moniker took in more than $2 million from the event, with an average selling price of $23,443.

Other top-sellers of late have included, which sold for $5.1 million in a bankruptcy auction;, for $1.7 million; and for $1.76 million. --Mark Walsh
