The Association of Hispanic Advertising Agencies (www.ahaa.org) and Advertising Age combined efforts to host the second annual Hispanic Creative Advertising Awards.
The gala event held at the Sun
Theater in Anaheim, Calif., was co-sponsored by Telemundo Network Group, Radio Unica, Delta Media, People en Espanol, La Opinion and Terra.com. Award winners were selected from more than 500 entries
in the TV, magazine, outdoor, radio and newspaper categories.
AHAA's first Eduardo Caballero Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Sara Sunshine, senior vice-president of the Bravo Group,
New York, to recognize her contribution to the Hispanic advertising industry. Ms. Sunshine began her advertising career in 1960 as co-founder of SAMS, the first U.S. full service agency to focus on
the Hispanic market. She then co-established Siboney Advertising as Senior Vice President before joining the Bravo Group. Ms. Sunshine has also been the recipient of many industry awards including the
first CLIO ever awarded for Hispanic advertising.
Bromley Communications, San Antonio, TX, led all agencies with seven award-winning entries. Florida-based del Rivero Messianu Advertising won six
awards and Dieste & Partners Publicidad, Dallas, and Saatchi & Saatchi/Conill Advertising, Torrance, Calif., won three each.
