Don Ohlmeyer, who presided over the near-total revamp of "Monday Night Football," putting comedian Dennis Miller in the broadcast booth, resigned Monday, three days short of the first anniversary of
his return. Ohlmeyer, 56, also produced the show in the 1970s during the glory days of Howard Cosell, Don Meredith and Frank Gifford. ABC president Howard Katz rehired Ohlmeyer last March 8, and gave
him free reign of the show. His most controversial move was to hire Miller to form a three-member crew with play-by-play announcer Al Michaels and Dan Fouts, who replaced Boomer Esiason as analyst.
Ohlmeyer also replaced sideline reporter Lesley Visser with former NFL star Eric Dickerson and ESPN's Melissa Stark.
