Move over Barack Obama -- Michael Jackson now has the most popular page on Facebook. In the wake of his unexpected death last month at 50, the number of fans flocking the King of Pop's page on the
social network has soared from less than 1 million to more than 7 million in the last couple of weeks. That's about 1 million more than Obama.
Facebook also said Tuesday afternoon
that a total of about 1 million users had posted some 800,000 status updates on Facebook related to the live online broadcasts by CNN, E! Online, ABC and MTV of the Michael Jackson memorial service.
Following a successful partnership for Inauguration coverage, CNN has again tapped Facebook Connect to let users live stream the event while simultaneously sharing thoughts and comments with
friends on Facebook. The social network's Live Stream widget has also been integrated by the networks mentioned above.
That's not all. The free Michael Jackson glove virtual gift is the most
popular in Facebook's history, with over 800,000 downloaded so far. --Mark Walsh
