Pyramid Makes a Comeback

  • November 6, 2000
broadcastingcable.com - The old $25,000 "Pyramid" is getting a facelift, a lot more loot and possibly a daytime and primetime platform for the 2001-2002 TV season-not to mention a pair of new big name hosts. Sources say Columbia TriStar Television Distribution is developing a remake of the former Dick Clark-hosted game for both syndication and network television. The primetime version would become "The Million Dollar Pyramid" and sources say the studio is in talks with NBC for a weekly version of the show. Possible hosts include former Seinfeld co-star Jason Alexander. And for daytime syndication, the studio will likely bring a $25,000 version of "Pyramid" to NATPE in January with comedian/actor Steve Harvey as the game's front-man. Harvey's The Steve Harvey Show is in its fifth and likely final season on The WB. Columbia TriStar is selling Harvey's sitcom in off-network syndication for next fall as well. NBC and CTTD execs had no comment.
