Meredith To Focus On Subscriptions, Not Newsstands

Forget newsstands. Magazines publishers like Meredith are putting more subscription cards in their pubs, per The New York Times. While the female-targeted publisher admits newsstand sales are down, total circulation doesn't rest with its sales. For Ladies' Home Journal, only 4.8% of its total circulation came from newsstand sales, and for Better Homes & Gardens, only 2.5% -- which explains why readers can expect more subscription cards in future issues.
