The Boston Globe has announced it will discontinue the Saturday morning early edition of its Sunday newspaper after June 24 as a cost-cutting measure.
Globe President Richard J. Daniels said in a
story published Thursday the edition, which has been sold at metropolitan-area stores and newsstands, had been moderately successful in reversing a decline in Sunday circulation since it was launched
in October 1999.
Daniels said the Globe expects "relatively small losses" by discontinuing the edition, which had grown to about 20,000 circulation, and expects to recoup them through other
efforts.
The Globe is owned by The New York Times Co.
