Reuters is reporting that a federal judge has thrown out a ban that barred tobacco companies from using graphics and colors in labels and ads. The judge did side with the government on its brand-name
product merchandise and sponsorships ban, however.
R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and Lorillard Inc. were among those seeking to void parts of a sweeping new law approved by Congress last year
giving the Food and Drug Administration broad regulatory authority over tobacco products, Reuters said.--Nina Lentini
