Kelly Rising Star At Fox News

First "America's Newsroom." Then "America's Election Headquarters." And on Monday, Rising star Megyn Kelly will begin anchoring a third all-about-America newscast, "America Live." Kelly, who will be the solo anchor for an afternoon program starting Monday, is a centerpiece of the news side of Fox News.

Kelly, a 39-year-old lawyer, appears weekly on Bill O'Reilly's opinion program, often putting her legal background to use. Inside the News Corp., the owner of Fox, Kelly has been mentioned as a leading candidate for a prime-time anchor job. Fox's contract with Greta Van Susteren, the longtime 10 p.m. anchor, is up at the end of the year.

Illinois heads to the polls today to decide primaries for both parties’ nominations to the U.S. Senate and Governor’s office. At this late juncture, the attention has shifted dramatically from the senatorial race (likely an easy win for Mark Kirk on the GOP side) to the hotly contested gubernatorial primary.
As of this moment, I have every reason to believe that Adam Andrzejewski enters the race today as the favorite. There have not been solid polls for a week, but I’ve talked to well-placed people on the ground and it is becoming obvious that the writing is on the wall – people expect Andrzejewski to win. In fact, based on some of what I’m hearing, he may win rather convincingly, but I’m not going to count any chickens before they hatch.
From what I hear, the final sprint will likely be a three-horse race between Adam Andrzejewski, Kirk Dillard, and Andy McKenna – with Bill Brady falling short, Jim Ryan in freefall, and Dan Proft collapsing. Of course, those are only rumors based on the situation on the ground – but my sources are pretty good.
So, as of now, my prediction is that we will indeed nominate Adam Andrzejewski for Governor tonight. Mark Kirk appears set to storm to victory in the GOP senatorial primary, while Alexi Giannoulias will fend off a smattering of Dem challengers for Dem nomination to Obama’s old seat. The Democracratic gubernatorial primary is a nail-biter, but conventional wisdom seems to be that Dan Hynes will score a close victory over incumbent Governor Pat Quinn

They don't show Fox News overseas for some reason, but I can say that News Corp and the GOP need to fully realize that male voters are not going to stick with or be drawn to the Republican Party just because they seem to want to pander to smart opinionated middle-aged women like the Democrat Party and their competitors are doing. Sometimes the "opinions" of these exalted personalities don't jive with men's interests and rights. Except for the old geezers who think Sarah Palin is conservative because she is a "hottie" (they love saying that about her - a married woman - while most normal men would say that about her daughter Bristol), most men will look at what an opinionated person has to say that might effect their own interests, before becoming fans on a contingency basis.

Imagine two competing razor companies spending 100% of their advertising budgets on trying to get women to buy their Lady Shaver razors. Imagine both companies spending $0 advertising for men to buy their regular razors. That would describe US politics today. The GOP and Fox News automatically assume that men are with them no matter what they say and whom they exalt. Their competition is not about to show them their mistake.

That said, the 2010 elections are probably going to swing right no matter what the GOP does to try to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
