The Wireless Advertising Association today released the initial results from the newly launched Mobile Advertising Industry Survey. The survey was conducted online from July 18 - August 3, 2001 and
participation was encouraged from 8,000 mobile advertising professionals around the world including WAA members. The results indicate a strong understanding and appreciation of the concerns consumers
have about this new medium. Specifically:
- 86% of respondents believe Mobile Advertising must be "Opt in"
- 77% believe the biggest inhibitor to adoption is fear of invasion of privacy
- 92% believe the medium must be personalized to succeed.
Complete results will be announced at the WAA General Session meeting on September 12 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the San Diego
Convention Center during the CTIA Wireless and Internet 2000 conference, which is being held September 11 - 13.
