The New York Yankees formed their new television network, calling it YES and promising to broadcast about 125 games next season. YankeeNets, the parent company of the World Series champions, as well
as the NBA's New Jersey Nets and the NHL's New Jersey Devils, owns 60% of the new regional sports network, Yankees Entertainment and Sports. The remaining 40% was sold for about $345 million to a
group that includes financial company's Goldman Sachs & Co. and Quadrangle Group LLC, cable TV pioneer Amos Hostetter Jr. and telecom industry leader Leo Hindery Jr., who will be the network's chief
executive.
