The growth of mulitcultural advertising can be confirmed by the fact that there are now awards to honor it. Last night, the Association of National Advertisers bestowed Multicultural Excellence Awards
for the first time at a dinner held in Key Biscayne, FL. The top winners were PepsiCo, AT&T, State Farm Insurance and Verizon Communications. Pepsi won for TV/radio campaigns for Pepsi and Doritos for
the Hispanic market done by Dieste & Partners. AT&T won for a TV campaign for 1-800-Call-ATT aimed at African Americans by Uniworld Group. State Farm won for a TV/print/radio brand image campaign for
Asian Americans by Intertrend Communications. Verizon won for a TV campaign for cell phones for the general market from Burrell Communications Group.
