ADVO, Inc., one of the nation's largest direct mail marketing companies, today announced a $500,000 reward for the capture and conviction of anyone responsible for contaminating the nation's mail with
anthrax. The amount doubles ADVO's pledge made two months ago when it committed $250,000 to the $1 million reward then offered by the United States Postal Service and the FBI. Today's announcement
puts the total now offered at $1.5 million, an amount that could go even higher when government agencies, as expected, increase their portion of the reward. ADVO also called on other companies that
recognize the need to protect the US mail system to contribute to the reward and help push the total even higher.
