Red Lobster has announced that it plans to remodel all of its nearly 700 restaurants in the U.S. and Canada and introduce an updated logo.
The new exterior and interior look, developed
through a multi-year process employing focus groups, surveys and market testing, is designed to be reminiscent of the seaside village of Bar Harbor, Maine.
Exteriors will feature a stone
tower, ship lanterns, Adirondack-style chairs, and window decals featuring seafood motifs. New signage will bear a "contemporized" logo featuring an updated lobster icon and a new modifier
that highlight's the chain's fresh fish and lobster.
Interiors will feature more comfortable booths, wood paneling, softer lighting and nautical décor.
One-third of the units will be remodeled by June. The chain's goal is to have all restaurants remodeled by 2014.
Red Lobster also announced the launch of new lunch and dinner menu items
as of Nov. 16. The dishes, "inspired by the flavors and regional tastes of America," are priced between $8.99 and $18.50. They include Maple-Glazed Salmon and Shrimp, Pecan-Crusted Jumbo
Shrimp, Cedar Plank Salmon, Parmesan-Crusted Tilapia, New England Lobster Rolls, Shrimp Flatbread and Grilled Shrimp Salad.
