Discovery Health Channel plans Feb. 17 to broadcast live labor, delivery and birth of babies from medical centers across the country. The 10-hour marathon, called Birth Day Live, will air from 4 p.m.
to 2 a.m. and will follow patients, doctors and nurses at three U.S. hospitals to be announced. The coverage will be anchored by former CNN and NBC journalist Mary Alice Williams. The programming is
being developed with the March of Dimes and is designed to focus attention on the issues surrounding a healthy birth. As each pending birth unfolds, Discovery Health Channel cameras and reporters will
be live in the maternity wards. Wrapping the live segments will be interviews with medical experts who provide information related to prenatal care, full term and premature birth, and newborns in
general.
