Jim Edwards writes that in September, Will
Ferrell approached the Pabst Brewing Co. and asked if he could shoot a series of ads for Old Milwaukee at no charge. "The company said yes. Three spots are now running in local TV ad buys in the
Davenport, Iowa, area, and they are hilarious," he writes, noting that Ferrell chose to shoot them in Davenport (the beer is from Wisconsin).
Edwards says he couldn't get Pabst CMO Bryan
Crowley on the hook about it, “but they will likely garner a far larger audience on YouTube than they ever will in Davenport. And
that, perhaps, is the point," writes Edwards. "... except that Old Mil' doesn't even have a YouTube channel." See the
ads here (which means I'm also volunteering for the brand, I guess).
