A leaked memo from USA Today parent company Gannett Co. says the company has bought “thousands” of Apple iPhones and iPads for its newspapers to help its journalists deliver information faster. The devices will begin arriving in January, with training starting “several weeks later.” The reports, which came from Gannett Blog, a site not affiliated with the company, posted memo from Bob Dickey, Gannett’s U.S. newspaper division president.
Part of Dickey's memo noted: "...we’ll provide the devices to create a “digital workstation” at each of our local Information Centers to monitor the content experience we provide across digital channels — tablets and smart phones, in particular. This will give us a vital point of view so we can adjust our storytelling with greater precision."
